About Mark Pelka, MD

 

Mark Pelka, MD, is an interventional cardiologist at Midwest Cardiovascular Institute in Naperville, IL. Dr. Pelka earned his Doctorate of Medicine at Poznan University Medical School in Poland. He furthered his education at Loyola University Medical Center, completing his interventional cardiovascular fellowship, cardiovascular fellowship and internal medicine residency. Prior to his medical training, Dr. Pelka graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in biology and a minor in chemistry.

Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and the National Board of Echocardiography, Dr. Pelka’s expertise extends across various areas within cardiology. He specializes in coronary artery disease including intra-coronary imaging and valvular heart disease. His proficiency is underscored by certifications from the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology and his eligibility for several other specialty boards. 

In his clinical practice, Dr. Pelka has attained COCATS level II and III certifications, encompassing a broad spectrum of cardiovascular procedures and diagnostics. From transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography to advanced coronary artery and structural heart interventions, Dr. Pelka’s skill set is comprehensive and continuously evolving.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Pelka maintains a balanced lifestyle with interests in basketball, soccer, running, and traveling. Fluent in Polish, he embraces diversity and cultural exchange in both his personal and professional life.
